My 30 (or more!) days challenges

Day 19 – Sunset

ruflag

When I was first reading through the list and saw the word ‘sunset’, I had no clue what exactly that meant and how a sunset makeup was supposed to look like. So I Googled it, found out how beautiful it actually was and since then have been looking forward to it more than to any other makeup. And now the time has come!

???????????????????????????????

Nothing exciting about the face, just the usual makeup. I don’t even use much foundation, after all it’s not about the face today.

It is, of course, all about the eyes. And I start with covering the whole under-brow area and the upper eyelid with white eyeshadow.

???????????????????????????????

Next I am going to apply the colours, one by one, in stripes. I’ll start with the dark yellow one. Now the problem with all those yellow eyeshadows is that while they look so bright and juicy on the palette, they tend to look really pale on the skin. So I have to moisten the brush and apply the colour in several layers, but even that doesn’t make it look as bright as I would want. So, the yellow colour is applied along the eyebrow, at a ~5mm distance from it.

The next colour is this bright orange one. I apply it right under the yellow eyeshadow, and then take a fluffier brush and try to blend the two colours so that the colour transition is not sharp.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

The same is done with the red eyeshadow applied next – that’s where it comes in handy, I never thought I’d use it at all!

Then comes the bright pink colour.

???????????????????????????????

And bright purple colour. I’m getting closer to the eyelash line, as you may see.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

The last colour to be applied on the upper eyelid is this sea blue one. Unfortunately, the brush I’m using still hasn’t completely dried after I washed it yesterday, so the line turns out a bit harsh. I am trying to blend it with the purple eyeshadow as much as possible.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

To blend everything even better I decide to go back in the opposite direction and use all the colours once again. So it’s now purple-pink-red-orange-yellow. All are more or less well blended and look a bit brighter than before.

???????????????????????????????

For the lower eyelid I use this indigo blue eyeshadow and apply it with a really thin flat brush.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

A thick coat of mascara is used to finish the eye makeup.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

I don’t want any accent on the lips at all, so I just apply my natural-looking Shu Uemura lipstick, and I’m done. And this is the first time during the whole challenge that I’m looking at the end result and thinking to myself that I’d really like to wear this makeup some time when I go out. Totally my favourite so far!
