My 30 (or more!) days challenges

Day 2 – Purple

ruflag

Since I got my Coastal Scents eyeshadow palette in 252 colours a few days ago, I’ve been really looking forward to the “colour” days, so as to try out new colours and their mixtures. Surprisingly, I’ve never tried purple make up before, and I thought I could make it heavier than the one I did yesterday, just for a nice contrast

???????????????????????????????

So I’m starting off with the Shu Uemura POREraser under base mousse in beige (well, obviously the VERY first step was actually cleansing the skin – probably not even worth mentioning, but just in case someone gets so inspired that they want to repeat! 😀 )

???????????????????????????????

This time I’m not skipping the foundation – although still making sure that I’m putting a very thin layer of my Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Foundation.

???????????????????????????????

I’m even going for a concealer, which is also from Yves Saint Laurent and is called YSL Touche Éclat Radiant Touch. It has its own brush, which is ok for applying small dots of the product under the eye but doesn’t look too convenient for blending it in. But the latter is easily done with the fingers, so no big issue.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

And I think my usual pink-coloured Joues Contraste blush (71 Malice) from Chanel is more suitable for a purple makeup. I’m also using a little bit of Shu Uemura Dual Fit pressed powder.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

Then comes the most important bit – doing the eyes. And here is my preciousss, the eyeshadow set! What you see in the photo is actually one third of the whole thing, there are two more palettes underneath!

???????????????????????????????

As a first step I cover the entire upper eyelid till the brow bone with the lightest purple colour.

???????????????????????????????

Then I use a darker purple shadow for the upper eyelid only.

???????????????????????????????

Finally I put some really dark purple colour on the outer part of the eyelid, applying the same colour on the lower eyelid along the lash line.

???????????????????????????????

The final touch for the eyes includes a thin line with the Rimmel eyeliner and a single coat of Shu Uemura mascara for the upper lashes only. It ended up being a rather simple eye makeup, so I will try something more sophisticated for the following ones.

I also use some lipstick , and because its colour didn’t look quite purple to me, I though a bit of purple eyeshadow wouldn’t hurt too much. Noted: never do that again! Big mistake.

???????????????????????????????

Overall, I am not super thrilled with the end result, it looks ok, but I could have definitely done better.
