My 30 (or more!) days challenges

Day 16 – Colourful

Looks like it’s going to be an exciting one! While usually applying makeup can turn into a very painful process (not literally, thank goodness!), where you have to carefully pick matching eyeshadows, lipsticks, blushes; today is a great opportunity to go crazy with different colours!

 ???????????????????????????????

No crazy cheeks (or the rest of the face), though, so I’ll go with the usual boring face makeup, because I really want to concentrate on the eyes, and maybe lips here.

So, speaking about the eyes, I start with this indigo blue eyeshadow with a bit of shimmer, and with a firm flat brush draw a line from the centre of the crease line to the outer corner of the eyelid, and from there another one to the outer corner of the eye itself.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

Then I take a softer brush and blend the lines using outward strokes and adding more colour as necessary, so that it’s not too pale.

???????????????????????????????

The next colour is this bright pink, which I normally wouldn’t necessarily dare use on my eyes. I put it on the corner of my eyelid, in several layers, making sure the colour really stands out.

???????????????????????????????  ???????????????????????????????

I apply a very little amount of the bright purple eyeshadow, it basically will serve as a transition colour here, so the purple area will be very narrow.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

And this transition is needed because the next colour is going to be bright sky blue! It is applied generously in several layers onto the most of the remaining part of the eyelid, with the exception of the inner corner only.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

For the inner corner I choose a bright yellow eyeshadow, which looks much paler on the skin than on the palette, even when applied in more than one layer, so I have to moisten the brush a little bit.

???????????????????????????????  ???????????????????????????????

Then I switch to the bottom eyelid and apply the same pink eyeshadow as mentioned above on the inner part (approximately one third) thereof.

???????????????????????????????

I go back to the indigo blue colour once again and make a bold long stroke along the remaining two thirds of the bottom eyelid – and beyond!

???????????????????????????????

And finally, just to add a little more definition to the eyes, I take my eye pencil and draw the thinnest possible line on the water line.

???????????????????????????????

Eyes are done. No mascara is needed here, because I’m afraid it might look rather distracting.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

For the lips I go with a bright pink colour (not the one I used for the Barbie makeup, although this one would have been perfect for a blonde Barbie).

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

And here is the end result. I expected it to be a total disaster, which apparently it isn’t. In fact I’m even close to saying that I like it, even though I can’t really think of any event where I might wear it in real life.
