My 30 (or more!) days challenges

Day 14 – Barbie

ruflag

Quite frankly, I was not looking forward to this one. When I think of a girl who looks like Barbie, there’s nothing flattering that comes into my mind, only silly pink makeup and a no less silly facial expression. But I don’t have a choice and have to do it.

???????????????????????????????

I start with the face, first covering it with the under base and then with a rather thin layer of foundation.

???????????????????????????????

I don’t apply any blush for the time being, deliberately leaving it till I’ve done the eyes. What I do though, is a little bit of contouring – I’m going to look like a brunette Barbie obviously, and she is a tanned lady. So I apply some bronzing powder exactly on the same areas of my face as I did for the Contouring day and blend it out thoroughly.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

Some shimmering white eyeshadow is used as a highlighter and again applied to the same areas as shown in yesterday’s post.

???????????????????????????????

Then I move to the eyes. First I cover the entire eyelid and the whole area up to the brow with a generous amount of white eyeshadow.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

After doing this I realise that I completely forgot about the eyebrows. Never too late, so I fill them in with a rather bright brown eyeshadow – that’s pretty much what Barbie’s eyebrows look like.

???????????????????????????????

I then use a very bright pink colour to create sort of a cloud above the outer half of the crease.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

With a flatter brush dipped in the same eyeshadow I draw a false crease right on the crease line and add some more colour to the ‘cloud’, blending it in thoroughly but making sure that none of the pink colour gets on the eyelid.

???????????????????????????????

I then draw a nice thick line with the eyeliner, adding a relatively long flick.

???????????????????????????????

The outer corner of the eye is covered with a faint amount of transparent black eyeshadow, and I’m making sure that it’s not too dark or bright.

???????????????????????????????

Then I take a white eye liner pencil by Rimmel and draw a line under the eye, with a flick right under that black eyeliner flick. It makes my lower lashes look a bit messy, I have to say.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

Then I try to draw another nice black line under the white one, again with a flick that leaves the white flick right between the two black ones. Here is where I screw up a bit, as the line turns out pretty ugly!

???????????????????????????????

And finally I cover my upper lashes with a couple of layers of mascara and draw some fake lower lashes with the eyeliner (which, by the way, also look quite ugly – and so does the photo, I didn’t realise it was so blurred!)

???????????????????????????????

Now I’m going back to the cheeks. As I don’t have a blush of that nasty pink colour that is appropriate here, I use instead the same bright pink eyeshadow as for the eyes.

???????????????????????????????

Some more bright pink colour is applied to the lips.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

Silly facial expression on – and here we go! This was the most complicated makeup so far, and at the end of the day, the result doesn’t look too bad. Well, I mean, of course it does – in terms of being too bright, too pink and too silly. But after all, it is meant to be so, and I guess, I nailed it more or less – apart from those ugly eyeliner lines of course!
